Four students from the Central Chemistry Club presented posters at the national meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Diego from March 23 to 26. Their travel was supported by the SGA, and they were accompanied by Dr. Sarah Maurer, who also gave an oral presentation.

The posters and presentations included:

  • “Characterization of four water-soluble vitamins using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with photodiode array detection (uHPLC-PDA)” by Brittney Blair, with research advisor Sourav Chakraborty.
  • “Characterizing the permeability of abiotic protocells using fluorescence decay” by Avery Glagovich, with research advisor Sarah Maurer
  • "Environmental constraints on vesicle formation: testing ten-carbon amphiphiles“ by Autumn Sankofa, with research advisor Sarah Maurer
  • “Synthesis and characterization of amino acid decyl esters as prebiotic vesicles“ by Brody DeSouza with research advisor Sarah Maurer
  • “Chemical evolution on floating pumice islands for abiogenesis” by Dr. Sarah Maurer
